About Us - Leapfrog
Travers Smith has devised a new style of business–led, not-for-profit collaboration called Leapfrog, a unique climate change initiative delivered by a multi disciplinary team of trustees. Its aim is ambitious, as it attempts to foster collaboration in support of both UK and international carbon reduction and clean-technology projects by organisations that put corporate social responsibility at the heart of their business culture. What is Leapfrog?
Leapfrog channels services donated by top businesses and organisations into activities that deliver carbon reductions. At the core of the Leapfrog philosophy is the desire to embrace the volunteering spirit and core skills of corporate professionals who want to ‘do their bit’ to reduce climate change and encourage sustainability.
What this means in practice is that Leapfrog identifies deserving domestic and international carbon reduction projects and clean-technology entrepreneurs that would benefit from the services on offer within the Leapfrog community. Leapfrog, made up of companies across a wide range of industry sectors such as HSBC, BDO Stoy Hayward, Lloyds Banking Group, RSK and Low Carbon Investors, also has the support of the European Commission and Business in the Community.
Depending on the projects chosen, the Leapfrog team mobilises to provide project management support, legal, technical, branding, marketing, risk management and insurance advice, thereby ensuring it:
- Provides talent with expertise that may not otherwise be accessible to the customers, assisting them to realise their climate and sustainable development goals.
- Generates revenues from the sale of carbon credits, which are then recycled into the promotion of long-term additional local developments and poverty alleviation (e.g. schools, hospitals or other greenhouse gas/carbon emission reduction projects).
- Enables employment and skills development for local staff involved in realising the Leapfrog project.
