Simon is a partner in our Tax Department.  He specialises in corporate and management taxation, in particular focusing on corporate finance and private equity work.  Simon has advised on public and private M&A, Public-to-Privates, demergers, IPOs and joint ventures.

Recent experience includes advising:
  • a Bridgepoint backed vehicle on the buy-back at a discount of senior debt lent to Fat Face
  • London Mining plc on its return of cash to shareholders by way of an elective B share scheme
  • management on substantial public-to-private transactions including:
     - the acquisition of EMap“s business-to-business operations by Apax and Guardian Media Group for around £1,000m
     - the take private of NDS by News Corporation and Permira, valuing NDS at around £2,000m
  • the founders (and owners) of the leading bed specialists Dreams plc on their successful sale to Exponent Private Equity
Simon has also advised a significant roster of private equity clients, including 3i, Bridgepoint Capital, Phoenix Equity Partners, Exponent Private Equity, TA Associates and Lyceum Capital on a range of acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations.

Simon is a member of the Law Society“s Corporation Tax sub-committee.
